Instead of finally moving them to feature films, an addled "administrator" has removed them "due to issues with the item's content."

It's a major pity if it's a mistake for no real reason. Please don't be put off. If it's any encouragement for you, I had all those titles bookmarked for downloading over the next few days - I was delighted to find the Gracie Fields title just this morning!

It looks like an admin has mistaken your "move" request for a "remove" request.

The note on the "make dark" tasks are:
[glob=&own=&curation=%5Bcurator%5DEmanuelS%5B%2Fcurator%5D%5Bdate%5D20101123004342%5B%2Fdate%5D%5Bstate%5Ddark%5B%2Fstate%5D%5Bcomment%5Dper+uploaders+request%5B%2Fcomment%5D&noindex=true&dir=%2F1%2Fitems%2FWhite_Zombie_1932]

Which means an admin called Emanuel made the items dark with the comments "per uploaders request"

Looks like the items cannot be made undark. I tried undarking White Zombie and got the message "The item you are trying to edit cannot be retrieved. This problem may be temporary, or the identifier supplied is invalid or references a removed resource." Could mean either that the items are gone forever or my basic admin privelidges don't cover reinstating "dark" items.

Thanks.

A while back, one of them moved Love Story (1970) from Community Video to Feature Films. No one asked that it be moved. No one discussed its copyright status in the forum. The admin was willing to waste time wading through Community Video looking for films to move, but no admin is willing to look at this forum once a day and move a couple of movies.

It should take no more than 30 seconds to move a film; surely all of the drudgery can be handled by a bash script.

That stinks and I'm sorry to hear that, Moongleam. I know you went to a lot of time and trouble to research your items before you put them up, let alone the time you put in to convert and upload them. For what it's worth, I've downloaded almost everything you've contributed, and anything of yours I haven't downloaded I've saved the links to download later. I'm sure it was just a snafu, as billbarstad said, but that probably doesn't do much to make you feel better. You might have made a mistake about the status of maybe one or two items (and I'm talking about everything you've contributed, not just the list above) but I think the vast majority of your items were indeed PD, "White Zombie" for certain. I hope this gaff on the staff's part doesn't sour you on doing future uploads and I even hope that you might take a stab putting the above items back up at some point later. No one can knock you for what you have contributed to this site. If anything, your efforts have made this site better, more diverse. Don't let this stop you now. It does bother me that these items have been taken down while other, more questionable items remain.

Those items are now back in the search engine and in feature films. We are all working hard to make content available to everyone. A little patience and understanding that mistakes do happen would go a long way.

That's a new snafu here, at least to me. Hope someone fixes it soon!

This is usually due to questions about copyrights. How did you confirm their status?

I too had bookmarked several of these and just now settled in to watch They Drive By Night...how disappointing. Probably some admin meant to flag the files for moving and accidentally removed them instead, or something like that. I hope they can be unremoved...

That's what I was thinking, just a bonehead mistake. But I think once the files are removed from the archive, the only way to put things back is the willingness of the uploader to do the work again. I think that is a big favor to ask of someone, but I hope Moongleam would be willing to do that after a while.
